ROGER PEARCE 1916-2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Pearce in the early hours of the morning on December 16, 2002 at the age of 86 in the Arborg Hospital. Born in Dauphin, MB, on November 12, 1916, he spent his first nine years on a farm in Gilbert Plains, then moved with his parents to homestead in Alonsa. He met and married Clarice Ruddell in 1946 and in 1947 had a daughter, Eltie. Roger loved farming, his family, and playing his fiddle with Clarice and her guitar for local dances. He lost his beloved wife to cancer in 1985. Following retiring from farming in 1987, he met and married Martha Friederici. They lived at the farm for two years, then in McCreary for three years, then moved to Arborg, Marthas home town, and three years ago, they both moved into the Personal Care Home in Arborg. Roger was a kind and gentle man who was respected and liked by all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered by his many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and neighbors, as well as his new family of daughters and sons. He is survived by his wife Martha; daughter Eltie; son-in-law Rodger Shute; and grand-children, Charles, Arthur, Eltie, and George. A celebration of Rogers life will be held on Friday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alonsa Community Hall in Alonsa. This Tribute of Love and Respect to Roger Pearce (our precious step-father) is from your eight step-children and their extended families. We will all forever cherish your memory for the gentleness and patience which was such a marvelous example of your strength of character. Your sympathetic ear that gave such gentle reassurance and the quiet strength of your warm sensitive eyes. We all were truly blessed and honoured and our lives were made richer to have shared in the noble example which was your life. We now sadly say farewell with hearts of thanks and gratitude for the joy and comfort of your devotion and caring for us all. May your dear soul rest in peace. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
