Date of Passing: Dec 15, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD STEVEN SHAW Peacefully on December 15, 2002 at West Park Manor with his loving daughters by his side, at the age of 83 years. Edward was predeceased by his wife Evelyn in 1997. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Viola Johnson and his three daughters, Lynn (Bill), Kim (Jean-Francois) and Lori (Gary) and their families. Dad started his life in West Kildonan and married Mom in 1950. They soon started building their home on Berry Street, doing most of the work themselves and lived there for 52 years. Dad left home as a young man to work in the mines in Ontario and soon after was employed for the majority of his working years by Bridge and Tank Western Limited as a crew foreman working on steel erection sites all over Manitoba and Western Canada. His work included water towers, schools, bridges and mine additions. He loved his job and took great pride with every completed task. His common sense, initiative and work ethics made him a natural leader. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, and together with Mom, built the family cottage at Bird Lake in 1960. The family spent numerous enjoyable summers there at Dads special place, swimming, boating, fishing and blueberry picking. Other holidays included the many trips to visit his daughter Kim and son-in-law Coco in Bordeaux, France. Dad loved to tinker and spent endless hours in his garage repairing and building his own inventions. He was a tireless worker who always offered a helping hand and advice to friends and family. No job was ever too big or too small for Dad to handle. Dads greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, Kendra, Derek, Karen and Katherine. He always loved to hear their stories and attended all the hockey games and school concerts with great pride. Dad always enjoyed the company of his two dogs Bentley and Casey and spent hours walking them around the neighbourhood and teaching them new tricks. The family extends thanks to all the staff at West Park Manor for making Dads last year of life pleasant and comfortable. A special thanks to Isaac Ramos for making Dad laugh every morning. Dad was a very special person to all who knew him and will always be remembered. In accordance with Dads wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3R 1X2 or a charity of ones choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
