RONALD F. BROOME Peacefully, on Saturday, November 23, 2002 Ronald Broome passed away at the Vista Park Lodge at the age of 89 years. Ron was predeceased by his wife Laurie in 1996; sisters, Ethel and Doris; and his brothers, George, Alec and Edward. He is survived by his son Gary, daughter Judy (Ian) Robertson; grandchildren, Stewart, Lesley and Andrew; his sister Joyce and many nieces and nephews. Ron served for his country in the Second World War in the Artillery Division and survived the battle of Dieppe. He worked for Modern Dairies for many years until his retirement in 1978. In retirement Ron was an active bowler, competing in Ottawa at the age of 85. Ron was also a longtime member of the Fort Rouge Legion. In accordance with Rons wishes cremation has already taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Road with The Rev. Bob Webster officiating. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Vista Park Lodge for their warmth and caring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rons memory to the Salvation Army (180 Henry Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0J8), or to the Winnipeg Humane Society (5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3).
