HELEN WILLIAMSON LAWRENCE (nee UNDERWOOD) Following a lengthy illness, Helen passed peacefully to her rest on Monday, December 16, 2002 in Riverview Palliative Care. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Eliza Underwood; husband Neal (1993) brother Bill (1993) son Moe (1986). She is survived by daughter Glenna; son Bill; granddaughter Carmen Ponto; sisters-in-law, Janet Underwood, Jo Gossler (Ft. Worth, TX), Jo Lawrence (Pasedena, CA) her nieces and nephews. Helens talent for hospitality began when her family hosted many servicemen during the Second World War. Elected Miss United College, Helen worked as a Legal Secretary before her marriage in 1947. After modelling for Eatons and Brigdens, Helen devoted herself as homemaker until the 1970s and 80s when she volunteered at St. Amant Centre, and served also on the boards of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, The Manitoba Association of Occupational Therapy, and of the Winnipeg Library. She also raised awareness as an early advocate of childrens rights. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Victoria General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their unstinting love and care. Flowers are gratefully declined.
