HILDA ROSE PATON After a long brave struggle with Parkinsons Disease and complications, Hilda Rose Paton passed away on December 16, 2002 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 89 years. Hilda was born to Jacob and Rosina Bitz on her fathers farm near Carbon, AB and grew up there as the youngest of a large family. After graduating from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, AB, she often worked cooking for harvesting crews where she met husband David Gordon Paton and moved to Winnipeg. During the war years Hilda worked first as a domestic cook and later in the Transcona Cordite Factory. After the war they married, built a house in Brooklands and raised a family. Hilda was a longtime member of McDermot Avenue Baptist Church and also active in Weston Gospel Church. She very much enjoyed singing and playing accordion with her church group outings and made many strong friendships there. Hilda was predeceased by husband David; and brothers and sisters, Matilda Kary, Gustave, Edward, Theodore, Lydia Karas and John. She leaves to mourn her children, David, Tina, George (Christta), John and Jonathan (Rachael) grandchildren, Victoria and Heather; brother-in-law Bruce; sisters-in-law, Gladys Ginter and Dorothy Bitz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We thank the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital and Maples Personal Care Home for care during Hildas protracted illness. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20 at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, 821 McDermot Ave., with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment Brookside Cemetery. • She found humor in the most ridiculous places. my beloved mother had the most robust and quirky sence of humor. She always made me laugh. I think of her every day when an odd thing makes me smile.. still alive and well in my heart. - Posted by: Jonathan (son) on: Dec 28, 2014
