MARY (MOLLY) TURNER Passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2002 at the Souris District Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Barbara Lavoie (Len), Spruce Grove, AB and Joan Lawrence, Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Tim Lavoie (Theresa), Oakbank, MB, Corinne Mandin (Terry), Calgary, AB, Andrea Lawrence, Calgary, AB, Jeff Lawrence, Millarville, AB; great-grandchildren, Katie and Alex Lavoie, Emily and Anna Mandin; brother-in-law Hilton Turner of Brandon, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Molly was predeceased by her husband John in 1997; daughter Elizabeth; brothers, John, Charlie, Joe, and Ernie Roberts; sister Elsie Metcalfe and son-in-law Paul Lawrence. Molly was born July 8, 1915 on a farm in the Whitefield Breezelawn area of Manitoba. She lived in the Souris area where she received her education and worked in the telephone office. Molly married John Turner on June 9, 1938; they farmed at Carroll, MB until 1947 when they moved to Souris. In January of 1955 they moved to Winnipeg, where they lived until returning to Souris in 1996. Molly will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, as well as her courage in meeting lifes challenges. We will all be kept warm by our memories of Mom and by her afghans. A special thanks to Dr. David Cram, the staff at Souris Hospital and Victoria Park Lodge, Palliative Care volunteers, and friends, for the incredible caring and support shown to Mom and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mollys memory may be made to the Souris Hospital Palliative Care Fund or to the Victoria Park Lodge c/o the Town of Souris. A memorial service will be held from St. Pauls United Church, Souris, MB on Thursday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m., with interment in the Carroll Cemetery. Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, MB in care of arrangements.
