JOHN PAUL USHAKAS (1909 - 2002) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Paul Ushakas on December 11, 2002. Formerly of Lethbridge, AB, he died peacefully at Oakview Place in Winnipeg with his family at his bedside. He was predeceased by his only child, Leonard Ushakas in 1994 and his parents and siblings in Lithuania. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 70 years, Jessie Ushakas; a daughter-in-law, Kay Ushakas; a granddaughter, Cathy (Michael) Parsons; a grandson, Doug (Janet) Ushakas and five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Dane Parsons and Madison, Abby and Luke Ushakas, and relatives in Lithuania. John was born in Lithuania on March 7, 1909 and immigrated to Canada in 1928. He was employed by the CPR for 44 years. He and Jessie lived in many southern Alberta towns during their lifetime together. John spent his retirement years fishing, gardening, playing the accordion and enjoying visits with his family. A private funeral service was held on December 16 at Chapel Lawn with Father Gerald Langevin officiating. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Oakview Place for their wonderful care and to all our family and friends for their expressions of sympathy.
