MARGARET FEHR (nee PENNER) With great sorrow and heartfelt sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Fehr on December 17, 2002 at the age of 89 at Oakview. She was a loving and much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She was born on August 2, 1913, and grew up near Winkler, MB. She worked for different families before she married Isaac Fehr in 1942. They farmed in Southern Manitoba near Winkler and Ridgeville. They moved to Winnipeg in 1961 where she worked in a sewing factory, and to Vancouver in 1967 where she worked in the drapery department at Sears. When Dad retired in 1979, they moved back to Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Isaac in 2000; brother Martin; and sisters, Helen and Ann. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Albert (Alison) Fehr, Betty (Robert) Gunn, Margaret (Harold) Goetz; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle and Jeffrey Fehr, Sherri and Brenda Gunn, Jason (Michelle), Keith (Gisele), and Kevin Goetz; brothers, Jake, Henry, Isaac, John, George, and Cornelius; sisters, Tina, Agatha, and Marie; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mom and Dad enjoyed travels to Australia, Papua New Guinea, California, and the Maritimes. Her strong faith in God helped her through many changes in her life and she has nurtured this faith in her family. Her actions showed her deep love for her family and people around her. She always put the needs of others before her own without expecting anything in return. She was devoted to her family and loved to cook everyones favourite foods, whether it was a complete meal or soup and buns on Saturday. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She also loved to read, sew, knit mittens, crochet afghans and slippers, keep in touch with family and friends through letters and telephone calls, and play cards. Special thanks to all who supported and comforted Mom in the many changes in the last few years of her life, to the caregivers and regular visitors at Oakview, to visitors from Messiah Lutheran Church and to family and friends who visited, telephoned, and sent cards. The family members are very grateful for all the prayers and support which they received during this difficult time. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road with viewing prior to the service. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Mom chose this poem, so we consider it as her last message to her family and friends: MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone, Its part of the Masters Plan A step on the road to home So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me, but let me go.
