Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN GIESBRECHT On Monday, December 16, 2002 John Giesbrecht, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved husband of Tina, his loving wife of 53 years, one month and three days, passed away at their home at the age of 78 years. They enjoyed life through good health, sickness, financial struggles just like most people do. He was born on May 29, 1924 in the Melba school district near Lowefarm, MB. He was the oldest of 11 children. John married Tina Rempel on November 13, 1949. They were married at the old homestead close to Plum Coulee. Their first son arrived in 1951. They lived there for a couple of years then moved to Horndean to the J.B. Wiebe farm where they were blessed with three daughters. After that they bought a 40 acre farm with a little house on it. It was their very own. This is when the twins were born, three boys and three girls - pretty nice. At this time John was looking for a bigger house and more land. He came upon the Bennett place. Mrs. Bennett fell in love with the twins (who were only a few weeks old). These are the people who should buy our place she said. She was dying of cancer and she was glad to have this looked after. John and Tina lived on that farm for 36 years. Their children all grew up there. In that time they built their retirement home, their current residence which they have enjoyed since 1977. John had a real passion for motorcycles and enjoyed travelling. They went to Yuma, AZ for eight years in the winters. When Johns health failed they stayed home. However, they stayed busy visiting family, going out for coffee with friends and doing volunteer work. He leaves the woman he loved and counted on, our mom Tina; children, Rob (Eva) of Red Deer, Phyllis (Alvin) Hiebert of Katrime, Bev of Victoria, Cheryl (Paul) Madden of Winnipeg, Walter of Winnipeg, Wesley (Candice) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Jennifer (Rod) Friesen of Gimli, Colin (Lori) Hiebert of Katrime, Vincent Hiebert of Katrime, Caroline Hiebert (friend Dale) of Katrime, Melissa (Rick) Welch of Red Deer, Chad Giesbrecht of Red Deer, Ryan Giesbrecht of Red Deer, Paige Madden of Winnipeg, Erin Madden of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Riley and Morgan Welch of Red Deer, Loren, Alex, and Blake Friesen of Gimli. He was predeceased by his parents, Sara and John; his brother Abe; nephew Kenneth Giesbrecht; in-laws, Katherina and Frank Rempel; brother-in-law Dan Rempel; niece Lorraine Rempel. Friends may call for visitation on Friday, December 20 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Clarkes Funeral Chapel, MacGregor. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor Sommerfeld Church with Pastor Dale Doerksen officiating. Interment will follow at Bagot Chapel Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Valley View Bible Camp, in care of Abe Thiessen, Box 118, Austin, MB, R0H 0C0. We do not mourn as those who have no hope but look forward to meeting in glory. - The Family
