Il etait entoure de sa famille. Arthur laisse dans le deuil Simone (nee Fillion), epouse bien-aimee et devouee; ses enfants, Roger (Nicole), Marcel, Lucille (Jeff), Elise (Terry), Roland (Louise), Therese (Alfred) dix petits-enfants, Noel, Julie, Lynn, Remi, Cory, Clayton, Celine, Stephane, Chantal et Christine. Lui survivent aussi ses soeurs, Rose, Alice, Irene (George) son frere Raymond (Angele) ses belles-soeurs, Louisa, Antoinette, Noella, Lorraine; un beau-frere Elie (Adele). Arthur est predecede de son pere Alfred Massicotte (1962) de sa mere Aurore Ouillet (1974) quatre soeurs, soeur Eugenie, s.g.m., Bertha, Jeanne, Emma; trois freres, Jean, Edouard et Louis. Ne le 8 septembre 1913, Arthur etait destine a devenir un travailleur des plus ardents. Eleve dans une ferme a Kleefeld (Manitoba), Arthur poursuivra ses etudes au college Saint-Boniface ou il complete un an et demi du cours universitaire. En 1942, il demenage a Sainte-Anne-des-Chenes ou, pendant deux ans, il cultive une ferme avec son frere avant davoir son entreprise personnelle. En 1954, Arthur epouse Simone avec qui il partage 48 annees de bonheur. Ensemble ils cultivent la terre et elevent six enfants. Arthur se devoue dans plusieurs organisations, entre autres, il est Conseiller pour la Municipalite rurale de Sainte-Anne, il siege au Conseil dadministration de lhopital Sainte-Anne et au Conseil de la Caisse populaire de Sainte-Anne. Tres ardent dans les sports, il favorise surtout le curling et le hockey. Nous nous ennuierons beaucoup de ses discussions politiques tellement passionnasntes ainsi que de son sens de lhumour si petillant. Il aimait tant taquiner les personnes quil cherissait. La famille tient a remercier labbe Rene Chartier, le Dr. G. Gobeil, lUnite des soins a domicile et les employees en soins a domicile: Monique Buote, Bev Champagne, Paule Malo, Guylaine Joyal, infirmiere diplomee, Fran Everett, Yvonne Boulianne, Allison Antonyshen, Michelle Larocque, Yvette Cyr, Elaine Gagnon, Annie Plett, lecole Pointe-des-Chenes et Norman Desrochers. Le corps sera expose dans leglise de Sainte-Anne le samedi 21 decembre a 13h00 et les prieres debuteront a 13h30. La messe des funerailles, presidee par labbe Rene Chartier, sera celebree a 14h00. ARTHUR MASSICOTTE Sadly after a long battle of chronic airway disease, Arthur Massicotte passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. peacefully at his residence with his family by his side. Art will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Simone; his children, Roger (Nicole), Marcel, Lucille (Jeff), Elise (Terry), Roland (Louise) Therese (Alfred) ten grand-children, Noel, Julie, Lynn, Remi, Cory, Clayton, Celine, Stephane, Chantal and Christine. He is also survived by his sisters, Rose, Alice, Irene (George) and brother Raymond (Angele) sisters-in-law, Louisa, Antoinette, Noella, Lorraine; and brother-in-law Elie (Adele). Art was predeceased by his father Alfred Massicotte in 1962; his mother Aurore Ouillet in 1974; four sisters, Sr. Eugenie, Bertha, Jeanne, Emma; and three brothers, Jean, Edouard and Louis. On September 8, 1913, was born a hard working man. He grew up on a farm in Kleefeld, MB and was educated at St. Boniface College, with an extra one and one-half years of university. In 1942 Art moved to Ste. Anne, where he farmed with his brother for two years before starting on his own. In 1954 Art married Simone, his partner of 48 wonderful years. Together they farmed and raised six children. Arthur was in many organizations with Fr. Gerard Blanchette, including councillor for the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne. He was also on the Ste. Anne Hospital Board and the Board for the Caisse Populaire de Ste. Anne. He loved his sports especially curling and hockey. We will sadly miss his fun loving sense of humour, teasing the people he loved and his passionate political discussions. The family wishes to thank Father Rene Chartier, Dr. G. Gobeil, Home Care Unit, the Home Care workers, Monique Buote, Bev Champagne, Paule Malo, also registered nurse Guylaine Joyal, Fran Everett, Yvonne Boulianne, Allison Antonyshen, Michelle Larocque, Yvette Cyr, Elaine Gagnon, Annie Plett and Ecole Pointe des Chenes and Norman Desrochers. Viewing will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m., followed by prayers at 1:30 p.m. and funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, with Father Rene Chartier presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
