EDITH MARY ANDERSON It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Edith passed peacefully into eternal rest with her daughter Madelyn by her side on December 9, 2002 at the Selkirk & District Hospital at 79 years of age. Edith was predeceased by her husband Jim; granddaughter Sara; parents Michael and Madeline; brothers Bill, Michael and Martin; sister Maggie; sister-in-law Rhone and brother-in-law Charlie. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Jim (Arlene) of Selkirk, Janet (Louis) of Switzerland, Edith of Winnipeg and Madelyn of Selkirk; granddaughter Karen; brothers Gerald (Gladys) of Ontario and Gordon (Yvonne) of Newfoundland; mother-in-law Ella Anderson of Grosse Isle, MB; many nieces and nephews and good friend Kay Boyko. Edith was born in Grand Falls, NF on December 1, 1923. She met Jim in Grand Falls while he was stationed there during the war, they married in 1944 and came to reside in Selkirk shortly thereafter. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family. Jim and Edith enjoyed dancing and visiting with their friends on Saturday evenings at the Legion. She was a life-long member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. The family wishes to thank her many care-givers; the homecare workers, Dr. Racette and Marjorie, Tudor Home staff and nurses and staff at Selkirk & District Hospital whose kindness and compassion were greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Cathy Jonatanson for being there throughout this difficult time. After more than 20 years of valiant battles with illness, she is now at rest. Her fighting spirit, strength and determination are her legacy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB, with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
