MARGARET BARTON Quietly, after a long struggle, on Saturday, December 7, 2002, Margaret Barton passed away at Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by an infant brother John in 1925; and parents Mary (Mayme) in 1968 and John "Mae" Barton in 1967. Margaret is survived by a sister Norma (Ken) Woodman of Brandon; and nieces, Patti (Dick) Hooker of Winnipeg, Sharon (partner Marc) of Quebec, Susan (David) Hunter of Brandon; and nephews, David (Margie) Woodman, Jim (Margaret) Woodman and Bart (Debra) Woodman, all of Winnipeg; and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in Winnipeg in 1925 and attended Lord Roberts School and Oxford School. She was a member of Riverview United Church and the young peoples group there for a number of years. She was also a member of Queen Winnipeg Chapter of the Eastern Star for years. Margaret worked briefly for the Maytag Co. before being employed by the Provincial Government in 1950. She worked as secretary in the Surveys and Mapping branch until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed travelling, reading and knitting but the greatest enjoyment in her life was the love for her nieces and nephews and their children. At her request, Margaret was cremated and a private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margarets memory may be made to a charity of choice.
