GEORGE GLAS On December 20, 2002, at Concordia General Hospital, Georg Glas, beloved father and friend, died at the age of 75 years. Besides his darling soulmate Rose Saltis, he is survived by his children, Katrin, Andreas and Tomas and their families; his brothers, Gerhardt, Frohwald, Winfried, Hartmut; and his sisters, Elfrun and Annelies and their families. Georg was predeceased by his parents Alma and August Emile Glas; and his sister Gertrud. Georgs family would like to extend their special thanks to all their friends for the incredible support theyve received. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 27 at 10:00 a.m. The funeral will take place at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with Rev. McCulloch officiating. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and prior to the service. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Georg was a very hardworking man known as a "Jack of all trades" with specialties in welding, blacksmithing and carpentry. He was a proud member of the 215 Legion after having served as a soldier in the Second World War, the French Foreign Legions Vietnam conflict and several theatres of operation. He was highly decorated for his bravery, dedication and honour. He was an adventurer and world traveler who spoke several languages fluently. After Georgs retirement he found great joy with his family and friends, hosting many pig roasts and family gatherings. He was a humble, kind and gentle soul that was described by his friends as a forever gentleman with a cavalier personality. Georg was a beloved father, grandfather (opa) and friend. He will be sorely missed. Goodbye dear friend, Aufwiedersehen Pop Donations may be made in memory of Georg to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave. Winnipeg, MB R2H 9Z9.
