VICTOR CLARENCE REDFORD Sadly we announce that our precious father Victor Clarence Redford passed away on Christmas Day December 25, 2002, just six days after Mom passed on. Dad was ill for a long time and even though he is free of his tired body, losing him leaves the family with deep loss and grief. Dad was born February 3, 1917, in Chicago, IL, USA, but always considered himself a Canadian. Except for brief periods of time living in England and Vancouver in his younger years, he lived in Fairford for most of his life. Dad leaves to mourn his daughters and sons-in-law, Charlette (George) Fosty, Cheryl (Marvin) Schwark, Evelyn (Joe) Decker and Audrey (Henry) Rawluk; his grandchildren, Shaney (Cody) Fontaine, Carmen (Zac) Blanco, Melanie (Erik) Einarsson, Eva, George, Darryl, Dwayne, Chantelle, and his little "Geemeth" great-granddaughter Samantha; his brother-in-law Lloyd Ferris; many nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and the USA. Dad is now with his grandson Victor; his mother and father, Harry and Charlotte (Moore) Redford; sister and brother-in-law Ivy and John Lobban; sister Betty Ferris; father and mother-in-law, John Woodhouse and Harriette Stagg, and other family and friends. We will cherish our memories of Dads devotion to his family, his kindness, caring, generosity and quick wit. He loved to treat us to vegetables from his garden, treasures from garage sales and the Goodwill, jokes and poetry recitations. Dad was a very patient, tolerant person and a true gentleman. Our family situation changed when we were children and Dad took on the daunting task of raising his four little girls alone. Times were hard in all ways and he never complained. He would often tell us how important and valued it was for our family to be together and how little other things mattered in comparison. We have many fond memories of Dad cooking for us, cleaning, doing laundry, days spent at the lake, picnics, evening walks and playing games. He was the best parent we could ever wish for. Dad loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, who have many fond memories of car rides and ice cream treats, listening to the music he introduced them to (Boy George and Dwight Yoakam!) swimming up at the lake and teaching them poetry. Dad had various jobs in his life time and ended his working career with the Department of National Defense at CFB Gypsumville. He enjoyed his retirement and was able to take several trips to British Columbia to see the mountains he loved. We are grateful that Dad enjoyed several years of retirement before his health failed. We appreciated the excellent care and support Dad received from Home Care workers, the Tudor House Personal Care Home staff, Dr. Demses, Dr. Lindenschmidt, Dr. S. Wong and the staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Pastor Donald Gould officiating. Service to conclude at the hall with cremation to follow. Interment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Rest In Peace our kind and gentle father.
