On the previous night he suddenly became ill and deteriorated quickly. During this time, family and friends were able to say their goodbyes before the Lord took him away. He left to mourn Adele, his beloved wife of 51 years; two children, Janice (Kevin) Gibbons and Elmer; five grandchildren, Shawn, Cory, Amber, Shannon and Jason; brothers, Henry, Jake and August; sisters, Alvina and Linda. Predeceased by his parents, daughter-in-law, brother, many sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Gottlieb was born and raised in Green Bay. He sang in the church choir and sat on church council for many years. He farmed all of his life and took on a second job as a carpenter to better himself and his family. At the age of 46, he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. Even though he struggled with the disease, he never let it get him down. You could always catch a smile on his face. A special thanks to Dr. Zeiler for the special care he gave over the years and the special staff at the East Gate Personal Care Home (Shamrock Unit) for taking such good care of Gottlieb and just being good friends to him. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Green Bay, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Mark Koenker officiating. Friends may view prior to the service. The interment will follow at the Green Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be sent to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, care of Fred Schindel, Box 954, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
