JOHN SWENARCHUK It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Swenarchuk. John passed away in the arms of his son Tom on Friday, December 20, 2002 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 84 years. John is survived by his three sons, Tom (Val), Rick, Reg (Noreen) three daughters, Janet (Wayne), Rita (Roman) and Barb (Bill), 13 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, sister Anne Mistafa, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his mother and father Dan and Melvina, three brothers, Harry, Mike and Frank. John was born on January 24, 1918 in East Selkirk, MB. He joined the war in July, 1942 at the age of 26. After the war, John came to Winnipeg and was employed with Co-op Implements, where he retired in 1982. John enjoyed his coffee times with friends, trips to the States with his son Tom, daughter-in-law Val and granddaughter Tanya, and spending time with his family. One of Johns greatest hobbies was planting his garden, which he took great pride in. Prayers will be held on Sunday, December 22 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
