ELECTA L. MOORE (nee LOUNSBURY) Electa Loretta Moore passed away peacefully in her 97th year on Sunday, December 22, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg. Her mother Delilah Ann Graham arrived from Owen Sound, ON in 1889. Her father Alvin Corwin Lounsbury arrived in Manitoba in 1879 when he was eight years old riding on a horse-drawn wagon. The family settled in Treherne, MB where her grandfather had taken up a homestead. Born August 16, 1906 (seven miles north of Treherne, SW Sec. 8-9-9) of nine siblings, she was one of four who survived. She attended Matchettville School. At 13 years of age she worked as a hired hand at a nearby farm. After three different jobs, she decided to have a home of her own. She settled in Winnipeg and became a valuable and loyal employee of the T. Eaton Co. With drive and determination she escalated her position within the company from the kitchen to sales in millinery, dresses, coats, to modelling for Christmas features. Electa loved her sons and enjoyed making a home for her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, upholstering furniture, refurbishing small appliances to renovating homes and cottages. No job was too difficult for her to tackle. She was a Worthy High Priestess of Althea Shrine No. 2 of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem (two terms) and a member of Fort Garry Chapter No. 17 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Beloved wife of the late John Sterling Moore and former wife of James Allan Way, predeceased also by two sisters, Elizabeth Kissinger, Merle Wilson; brother Lloyd; and daughter-in-law Margot (Storm) Way; and younger son Harvie Allan Way. She is survived by elder son Clifford James Way (Joan Baxter), Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Caroline Ann (Way) Ford, Whitehorse, YT, John D.A. Way (Francine), Richmond, BC, Barbara M. Way, Halifax, NS, Robert John Way (Louise), Hull, QC, Valerie Bell, Winnipeg; former daughter-in-law Beryl Norman, Winnipeg; and cousin Arthur Lounsbury, Winnipeg. She is survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Ian, Christopher, Alisha, Meghan, Kelsie, Christine, Connie, Shauna, Eric, Kimberly; and six great-great-grandchildren, Vincent, Valerie Lynn, Daniel, Kyle, Sarah and Damon Christopher. She is sorely missed by many nieces, nephews and friends who gave her such great delight. The family is grateful for the loving support and attention provided over the years by her nieces, Edna Spencer, (deceased), Irene Wilson; grandniece Della Delf; and close friends Mary Forsyth and Margaret Lillequist. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Electas memory to Supreme Material Objective Fund, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, care of Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0X4 or to a charity of ones choice.
