Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYBIL COCHRANE Peacefully, on December 20, 2002 at the Ste. Rose General Hospital, Sybil Cochrane passed away at the age of 92 years. Sybil was born at Northunberland, England on February 16, 1910, the eldest child of Richard and Alice Thompson. In 1927, the family sailed from England on the ship "Melita" to Montreal and then came by train to Ochre River. On April 25, 1935, Sybil married Joseph Cochrane in Dauphin, MB. They farmed in the Ochre River district until moving into the village in 1974, where she resided until her passing. Sybil enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading poetry and Catherine Cookson books, and playing cards. Most of all, she enjoyed receiving visits from her three sons. Sybil was predeceased by her husband Joseph on June 29, 1996; three grandsons, Greg Cochrane in 1997, Stephen Cochrane in 1977, Bobby Cochrane in 1964; three brothers, Jack, Richard, and Cecil Thompson; and one sister Ethel Erickson. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories, her three sons, Walter (Irene) Cochrane of Pinawa, MB, Tom (Geraldine) Cochrane of Spruce Grove, AB, Richard (Marlene) Cochrane of Ochre River, MB; her grandchildren, Wayne (Hollie) Cochrane of Spruce Grove, MB, Dale (Lana) Cochrane of Airdrie, AB, Trent (Glennys) Cochrane of Spruce Grove, AB, Denise (Rick) Brost of Spruce Grove, AB, Sheila (Dan) Patterson of Calgary, AB; her step-grandchildren, Dwayne (Bonita) Cleave of Winnipeg, Gail (Bill) Anderson of Winnipeg; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Peggy Griffin of Dauphin, MB, and Betty (Ed) Williamson of Sarnia, ON. Funeral service for Sybil will be held on Friday, December 27, at 2:00 p.m. from the Ochre River Community Centre. Mr. Roy Fordyce will officiate with the interment following in the Ochre River Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Marvin Matters, Dwayne Cleave, Collin Anderson, Rick Brost, Dale Cochrane, and Trent Cochrane. All of Sybils friends are to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Sybil to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba. Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, in care of arrangements. (204)447-2444.
