WILLIAM (BILL) GABBS October 2, 1914 - December 24, 2002 It is with sadness we announce the passing of William Gabbs of Stonewall, MB (formerly of Hilbre, MB) on December 24, 2002 at the age of 88 years. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey, sons, Elwood (Carolyn), Kenneth and Morley; daughters, Marjorie, Darlene (Brian) Goodman, Linda and May, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother Joey; sister Jean Potter; sisters-in-law, Denise Gabbs and Evelyn Gabbs; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Alvina Gabbs; sons, Lloyd and Mervin; son-in-law Brad Sixsmith; brothers, Henry, Dan and Art; sister Edith Knopp; brother-in-law Bill Potter; and his sister-in-law Marion. Dad was born in Browning, SK and grew up in the Grahamdale area farming with his mother. After marrying Audrey Burnett in 1938, he continued farming in the Faulkner District. In 1943, Dad went overseas, where he served his country during the Second World War. He was injured in the war and returned home in 1945. Dad really enjoyed farming. He owned the Moosehorn Transfer for a while, and was also a Post Office operator. In 1973, Bill and Audrey retired from farming and moved to British Columbia. In 1989, they moved back to Stonewall. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandpa who will always be loved and remembered. A memorial service celebrating Bills life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grahamdale Community Hall, with Jim Anderson officiating.
