EARL JAMES SWAYZE It is with great sadness, the family announces that on December 25, 2002, Earl Swayze, 76 years of age passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital. Earl was born February 4, 1926 in Morden, MB. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 53 years Edna (nee Link) his daughters, Earlyn (Jurgen) Bonnie (Dave) Kimberley (Reg) his granddaughters, Grace and Faye; his sister Phyllis; and numerous family members and friends. Earl was predeceased by his parents, James and Oliva Swayze; sister Vivian; twin sister Evelyn and brother Mervin. Earl served his country during the Second World War and upon his return and subsequent marriage to Edna he worked various jobs before they settled in Winnipeg. Earl spent many years working on construction as a sheet metal worker. After retiring from St. James School Division in 1991 as a sheet metal worker and custodian, Earl enjoyed working on his flower gardens and Christmas light display. He always enjoyed music, movies and sports on television, especially hockey. He was a skilled craftsman and one of his hobbies was building wooden ship models. Many will miss the stories he was so fond of telling. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Louridas and Dr. Tanner; the doctors and staff of the SICU and 4A South at St. Boniface General Hospital; Dean, his Home Care Attendant and Trevor from Rana Medical. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 30 at 1:30 p.m. with viewing from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 59 Academy Road with Rev. James R. Scholz officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church after the service. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Manitoba Lung Association, 2nd Floor, 629 Bannatyne Ave., R3A 1P6 or to Vascular Research, c/o Dr. Louridas, Z Block, Department of Surgery, St. Boniface General Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2H 2A6 or the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
