ROSE ZAHARA (nee MANCHUR) January 15, 1922 - December 27, 2002 Peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2002 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg, Rose Zahara passed away at the age of 80 years. Rose will be sadly missed by her children, Jacqueline Rittberg (Mel), Alleson Sandwell (Jonn Jansen), Lori Pritz (Arthur) and Christine Vincent (George) and five beautiful grandchildren, Sherri, David, Jannah, Geoffrey and Courtney. She will also be sadly missed by her pet relatives, Nosmo, Sheba and Pumpkin. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Luky and Ann Manchur; husband John; brother Metro Manchur; and sister Mary Oleksyn. She is survived by sister Helen Cenaiko of Wakaw, SK and brothers, Alex Manchur of Saskatoon, SK and Nick Manchur of Kelowna, BC and their families. She will also be sadly missed by the extended Manchur, Oleksyn and Zahara families. Rose was born in Gilbert Plains, MB and moved to Saskatchewan in her early years. She married John in 1950, residing in Watson and Wadena, eventually moving to Winnipeg. In 1984, Rose moved to Saskatoon and together with her sister Mary continued their love for cooking, dedicating their time to the Salvation Army until the mid 1990s. Rose then returned to Winnipeg where she spent her retirement years, thoroughly enjoying her family and reminiscing about her travels to Toronto, Vancouver, Florida and California. Over the past year Rose enjoyed living at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg where she actively engaged in many of the community programs and met new friends who will miss her. Special thanks to the staff at Middlechurch Home, Deer Lodge Centre and Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care, kindness and compassion. Funeral services for Rose will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg on Tuesday, December 31 at 9:30 a.m. with interment at Glen Eden. Pallbearers will be Mel Rittberg, David Rittberg, John Vincent, Dan Jupin, Stephen Jupin and Sean Jupin.
