ADAM MUZYCHUK Peacefully, early in the morning of December 26, 2002, at Victoria General Hospital, surrounded by his family, Adam William Muzychuk, aged 91. Left to mourn are Anne, his wife of 62 years; his daughter Diane (Richard Koreen) his sons, Terrance, Raymond (Valerie) and Evan (Susan Chodirker) his cherished grandchildren, Brendan (Chrissy) and Blythe Koreen, Mercedes and Adam Muzychuk; his sisters, Stella and Maria; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Rosalia; his sister Olga; and his brothers, Peter and Steven. After graduating from Manitoba Normal School, Adam taught in the Interlake and Vita areas. Following his love of all things mechanical, he became a machinist and worked at several Winnipeg firms: Pritchard Engineering, the Canadian Post Office, and Paulin-Chambers. Awarded for his progressive and innovative work in industrial safety and design, Adam was hired by the Manitoba Department of Labour in 1951. In addition to holding positions as both industrial safety inspector and construction inspector in the Department of Labour, he served as a First Aid instructor for the St. John Ambulance Society for many years. He was honoured to be recognized by Premier Ed Schreyer for his achievement in developing Manitobas first comprehensive building code. Active in his church, he gave freely of his time to both the church choir and several boards of the church, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, and St. Andrews College (University of Manitoba). In his leisure time Adam enjoyed many summers at the family cottage at Chalet Beach. Both the prayers, to be sung at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29 and the funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, will be at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave. at Sinclair, Father Jaroslaw Buciora officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave., or a charity of your choice.
