Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER I. DERKSEN December 23, 1915 - December 25, 2002 Peacefully with his family by his side, our dad, Peter I. Derksen of Steinbach, MB went to be with his Lord and Saviour, whom he so dearly loved on December 25, 2002 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was blessed with 87 years and two days. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth (Schultz) in 1990 with whom he shared his life for 53 years, five brothers, three sisters, one daughter-in-law Gay Derksen and one daughter in infancy. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his second wife, Katherine (Doerksen) with whom he shared 11 years and by his three sons and two daughters, Rufus (Marti), Don (Doreen), Lydia Dyck, Rudy (Kim) and Esther (Cornie) Dueck, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He will also be remembered by Katherines family, Helen (Jake) Funk, Ed Doerksen, Frieda Dueck, Barb (Henry) Hiebert, Brian (Debbie) Doerksen, Ken (Nicole) Doerksen and their families. Dads favourite scripture was Psalm 23, "the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Our thanks to the staff at Resthaven Nursing Home and Dr. Krahn for the wonderful care given to our Dad. Viewing will be Monday, December 30 from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. with devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 Mackenzie Ave., Steinbach on Tuesday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Heritage Cemetery. Donations can be made to The Gideons, PO Box 3619 Station Main, Guelph, ON N1H 9Z9. "We love you, Dad, thanks for being a wonderful father to us as a family."
