Born in Winnipeg on February 7, 1931 Bob was educated at Sturgeon Creek School and the St. James Collegiate. In his early years Bob was afflicted on two occasions with rheumatic fever. Determined to improve his health and strength, Bob in his late teens, went to work in logging camps. Bob then went to work for the C.N.R. Bob was a good man and would go out of his way to help someone if they needed help, whether you were down and sad Bob could always make you laugh and feel better. In his younger days Bob was an expert marksman winning may awards at turkey shoots and other competitions. Bob was also a great musician on the accordion and piano. All through life Bob strived to improve his physical fitness by working out, jogging, and other forms of exercise, and as a result became an extremely strong and proficient weight lifter. Late in life after Bob retired from the C.N.R. he took up hang gliding, at one point he broke his wrist in a hang gliding accident, that did not stop Bob from going right back to hang gliding after his wrist had healed. Bob continued to hang glide up until his passing. Bob also found another love after retiring in archery. Bob was predeceased by his parents, August and Mary and his son Ron.
