LORNE McINTYRE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Lorne McIntyre, on December 29, 2002. Lorne is survived by his wife Dorothy; son Neil; son Glenn and wife Carla; and his grandchildren, Bryan and Heather. He is also survived by his brother Keith and wife Mary of Amherstburg, ON; and his sisters-in-law, Violet Esselmont and Kathleen Esselmont of Vancouver, BC. "Mac", as he was better known by his family, relatives and friends, was born in Edson, AB on April 27, 1926. Being in a railroad family, Mac received his education in Calgary, AB, Kamloops, BC, Smithers, BC, and Prince Albert, SK. Continuing the family tradition, he was employed at the C.N.R. Transcona Shops as a machinist apprentice, to retire some 41 years later, in 1983, as a supervisor. Mac was particularly blessed in having a loving family, and also close friends and their families, who were forever present in the good or troubled times. Their true and loyal friendships, counselling, guidance and help was most appreciated. Mac served in the Navy Engineering Branch and later Fleet Air Arm. He was a member and participant in many organizations, including the Scottish Caledonian Society, a Cub and Scout leader, Odd Fellows, Transcona Masonic Lodge No. 123, Transcona Legion Branch No. 7 and a member of the board of the Transcona Memorial United Church for many years. Mac was a curler, and in later years he got great comfort and joy, working on the executive of the Transcona Seniors Curling Club. He gained deep strength, everlasting faith and true friendships in these associations and others. "Mac" was a loving, sincere, sentimental family man, who took great pride and joy viewing the accomplishments of his deeply loved wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and the families of close friends. In his quiet but determined way, he enjoyed travelling, reading, puttering, home keeping, organizing and doing various club functions. He would spend many hours at his desk detailing and recording everything. With basic computer knowledge, he could prepare schedules and play free cell. Lorne was predeceased by his father Alex, mother Anna and brother Raymond. He treasured dearly each and every valued hour he and Dorothy spent together. His true and deep love for his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grand-children and extended family and friends was always evident. One of Macs favourite hymns, "Just as I Am" has been his guide through life. Honorary pallbearers will be Vern Peterson, Bob Blaikie, John Cochrane, Alan West, Ed Foot and Jim Coulter. Funeral service will be held at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. West, on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing held prior to service, with Rev. Carol Fletcher and Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot, Transcona Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Lornes memory, may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: TRANSCONA FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-6677
