GYNIA "JEAN" TYHY (nee HANSON) On Friday, December 27, 2002, while on holidays in Calgary, AB, Jean Tyhy passed away at the age of 76. Jean was predeceased by her parents Max and Pauline; three children, Linda Tyhy on December 9, 1946, Bruce Tyhy on December 13, 1949, and Leonard Tyhy on June 8, 1959; two brothers and two sisters, Mary Beckta in 1950, Tony Hanson in 1956, Michael Hanson in 1988, and Marie Allan in 1994. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Joseph; five children, Dennis Tyhy (Hennia) of Smith Falls, ON, Richard Tyhy of Kenora, ON, Beverly Deibert (Ron) of Calgary, Brenda Funk (Barry) of Winnipeg, Sheila McKenzie (Robert) of Calgary; adopted daughter Lorraine Soshycki of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren, Lori Ann Tyhy, Steven Tyhy, Bradley Deibert, Angela Deibert, Stephanie Funk, Charlotte Funk, Patrick McKenzie, Jeremy McKenzie; three brothers, Benny Hanson (Leona) of Shuswap, BC, Steve Hanson (Kay) of Thunder Bay, ON, Joe Hanson (Phyllis) of St. Albert, AB; one sister Isabelle Brunel (Norman) of Winnipeg; many other relatives and friends. Joe and Jean were married in 1945 and enjoyed 57 years of blissful marriage. Jean was known as Mom, Grandma and Aunty Jean to everyone who knew her. She loved to cook and sew for her family and friends. Jean was never one to complain, even when she was down. She always enjoyed her family and grandchildren, and sharing stories about them with others. Her favourite saying was "Enjoy it while you can." Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2003, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 505 Brewster St., Transcona, with Rev. Fr. Wenceslao Rebillaco officiating. Service will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Ash interment will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Oaklake, MB. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made in Jeans memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Manitoba Division, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
