HELEN RUTH CORNWELL May 15, 1927 - December 30, 2002 On the sixth day of Christmas, with the wind blustering and the snow swirling outside, Helen Ruth passed peacefully into the hands of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Helen was born and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Holy Cross School in Norwood and spent most of her life as a resident of St. Vital in the family home on Inman Avenue. In her early years, she worked as a seamstress for the T. Eaton Company in their drapery department. For 20 years, her fine needle work was well known by customers who often asked for her by name. She was also quite renown for her knitting ability. In later years she worked as a Nurses Aide for the St. Boniface Hospital until illness forced her into retirement. Helens greatest gift was her kind, caring and compassionate heart. She was proud of her family, always willing to help in any way she could and cared deeply for all of them, especially her most beloved son Stephen. She loved to play bingo with her Mom and then later at the Tache Centre where she resided at the time of her passing. She took part in many outings and wherever she was you could always hear her singing. She was the "spice" of her ward and will be sadly missed by the residents and staff. Her family wishes to thank the staff at the Tache Centre for the kind and loving care given to her over the years. Auntie Helen loved to visit with her brother and family where she always enjoyed a good meal. As she said "like mama made." She will be sorely missed at these gatherings. Helen was predeceased by her parents, John Sr. and Helen; brothers, George, John and Roy. Left to remember her is her most treasured son Stephen; sisters, Daisy (Al), Marina; brother Richard (Bonnie) and sister-in-law Evelyn. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and all those who knew her. We will celebrate her life and passing with a mass on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: EDWARD J.
