TRAVIS MATTHEW JAMES May 12, 1985 - December 30, 2002 Travis passed away suddenly on December 30, 2002, and leaves to mourn his parents, Wayne and Frances James; older brother Peter (girlfriend Miranda Woodrow) his older sister Robin (boyfriend Darcy Pozdal) grandmother Susan James; aunts, uncles, cousins, Mel and Sis Ward and his family. Travis moved with his family to Manitoba from Holyrood, NF in the summer of 1997 and has made many close friends since, too numerous to mention. However, they are all very close to our hearts. He joined the Naval reserves this past summer, where he dreamed of continuing his career with the military after graduation this upcoming June. He attended the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School in Selkirk. Travis was very proud of his roots from Newfoundland and he took pride in everything he did, including re-building his pickup truck with his father. Travis was the kind of person who everyone would go to with their problems. He was the kindest, most caring teenager who enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by everyone he touched. Viewing will be held on both Thursday, January 2 and Friday, January 3 from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. A military funeral will be held on Saturday, January 4 at HMCS Chippawa, 1 Navy Way, Winnipeg, MB at 11:00 a.m., with Padre Glen Krentz officiating. This service is open to the public for all to cherish the life of our beloved brother and son. Flowers and donations are gratefully accepted. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
