Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARCEL (MIKE) BAETE On Saturday, December 21, 2002, Marcel (Mike) Baete passed away at the Baldur Personal Care Home with his wife and daughter by his side. Mike leaves to mourn his loving wife of 52 years Annie (nee Vandendorpe) son Armand (Joan), their children, Trevor, Tanya and Tyler; daughter-in-law Sandra and children, Steven and Heather (Sean) son Michael (Carol) and children, Blair, Amanda and Devon; daughter Patsy; son Garry (Cindy), their children, Kristen and Michael; son Brian (Faye) and their son Peter. Mike and Annie also have three great-grandchildren, Trent, Makenzie and Shelby. Mike also leaves to mourn his brothers, Joseph (Maggie), Lucien (Lorette) and sisters, Alice (Richard) Van De Kerekhove, Germaine Haegeman, Rose (Lorne) Van De Kerekhove, Marie-Angele (Felix) Godard; brother-in-law Roger (Alice) Lebeau; sisters-in-law, Simone (Ron) Aminot, Angele (Roland) Lesage, Mary Robitbulkloadaille, Germaine (Jim) Gibb and brothers-in-law, Rene (Irene) Vandendorpe, Gerard Vandendorpe, Albert (Margaret) Vandendorpe and by several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his son Raymond; parents, Theophiel and Marie; sisters, Madeleine (Leo) Fifi, Angele Lebeau; brothers-in-law, Marcel Haegeman, Dennis Robitbulkloadaille and by in-laws, Andrew and Irene Vandendorpe. Mike was a courageous, well respected, kind, gentle and hardworking man. He was born October 14, 1921. He served oversees during the Second World War. On May 30, 1950 he married Annie Vandendorpe. They worked side by side through good times and bad. Mike and Annie always had time for their family and many hours were spent together Belgium Bowling or playing cards. Mike instilled in his boys a love of fishing and hunting, which is now being passed to his grandchildren. He belonged to the curling club and bowling club in Baldur and enjoyed the fellowship of friends and neighbors. Even after retirement Mike still enjoyed going to the farm to help out. Mike and Annie enjoyed going to old time dances with friends and to Belcourt with daughter Patsy. Although Mike has not been well for a long time, his family has many dear memories of him. Mike and Annie had a good life together raising a large family. He was a happy man and enjoyed the small pleasures of life. His dedication to his wife, family, friends and livelihood was unyielding. Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 28 in the St. James Catholic Mission, Baldur with Father Enrique Samson as celebrant. Interment followed in the Baldur Cemetery. Urn bearer was Mikes son Armand, with Baldur Legion members attending as honour guard. Jamieson Funeral Service of Baldur-Glenboro were in care of arrangements. "We are proud to have had you for a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Mike had a great faith and so we say God Bless, May you rest in Peace. We Love You."
