W. ALLAN FORREST W. Allan Forrest of Qualicum Beach, BC passed away on December 31, 2002 at the age of 83 years. Allan was predeceased by his first wife Helen in 1991; his second wife Audrey on November 6, 2002; and his brothers, Ross, Don and Rod. Allan is survived by his brother Jack (Terry) of Vancouver; his children, Jack of Calgary, Patti (Bob) Forrest of Calgary, Leslie Forrest of Vancouver; and grandchildren, Samantha and Alex; and Audreys family, David (Coral) Knight of Summerland, Terry (Janice) Knight of Parksville and Karen (Doug) Phippen of Courtenay; and grandchildren, Patti, Todd, Andy, Neil, Katie, Kim, John, Chris; and Allans many relatives and friends. Allan was born in Calgary and raised in Winnipeg. After serving in the Navy during the Second World War, Allan moved to Lethbridge and began working as a salesman with Western Canada Hardware. This began his career in the plumbing and heating industry in southern Alberta. Allan worked for Western Supplies Ltd. in both Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and for E&P (Westburne) in Lethbridge and Calgary. In 1974 Allan started his own sales agency, Allan Forrest Sales Ltd. Allan was a proud recipient of the 50 year service award presented by the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating. Allan was also very active with the Mechanical Contractors Association. He retired in 1991 and moved to Vancouver. For the past five and one-half years he lived Qualicum Beach and was very active in the community and made many new friends. Allan was an avid sportsman and loved soccer, baseball, hockey, curling, golf and fishing. He enjoyed entertaining and being with friends. He liked to experience new places and travelled to many parts of the world including Europe, Australia, Asia and the Caribbean. Allan was active in many service organizations and a longtime member of the Concorde Masonic Lodge, the Parksville-Qualicum Shrine Club, and the B.P.O.Elks. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephens United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach. A service will also be held Saturday, January 11 at 1:30 p.m. at McDougall United Church, 8516 Athabasca St. S.E., Calgary, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Allans name, may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospitals, in care of Gizeh Shriners of BC and Yukon, 3550 Wayburne Dr., Burnaby, BC V5G 3K9 YATES FUNERAL SERVICE & CREMATORIUM (248-5859) in care of arrangements.
