HELEN RITER It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother Helen at the age of 76 years. She was predeceased by her husband Rudy, son Jim and sister Linda. Left with cherished memories are her sons, Bob and wife Christine and Ralph and wife Deen; her sisters, Betty, Madeline, Maryann, Ethel, Gladys and Jean; brothers, Joe and Bill; grandchildren, Kali, Rob, Allan, Venda, Teresa, Tammy and Toni; great-grandchildren, Zack and Jade. Mom was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Manitoba as a child and remained in Manitoba. She married "the best husband ever" and proceeded to raise her "boys" with a lot of love and hard work. She worked at the Selkirk Hospital for Mental Diseases for 25 years in the food and dietary department. She was active in the MGEA and served as president of the local for several terms and took and active part in politics working in support of the NDP, especially for Howard Pawley. She cherished the many friends she acquired and always made time and helped whenever possible. She was a very special person and lived for and loved her family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
