JANNA JACOBA van der HART (nee van den Berg) 1916 - 2003 On Saturday, January 4, 2003, after a lengthy and courageous struggle, a gentle soul passed from this earth to a life everlasting with her Lord and Saviour. Janna was predeceased by her loving husband Barteld; and beloved only daughter Engelina. She is survived by her sons, Herman (Carol), Cor, Bert (Connie) and Aart. She leaves to mourn her passing her grandchildren, Robin (Jason), Jason (Evelyn), Tessa and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Michael, David and Emma. She is also survived by her sister Greet; and numerous nephews and nieces in the Netherlands. After a long and satisfying career in nursing, Mother was ready to enjoy her retirement when her life was forever changed by an unfortunate accident that left her a quadriplegic. Years later she suffered a stroke which made her life even more difficult. In spite of these hardships, Mothers strong character and deep faith in the Lord sustained her and allowed her to live a full and productive life. Unselfish to the end, her only concerns were for her family. She will live on forever in our hearts. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the women of the home care program who helped care for Mother over the years, Cecille, Charlotte, Elma, Sheila, Dina (who was with her from the very beginning) and Anne, who became like a daughter to her and gave her much joy in her remaining years. The family would like to thank Dr. Fuchs and the nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for the care and compassion shown our mother over the years. According to Jannas wishes cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with pastor Bill Tuininga officiating. If lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Jannas memory to The Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2G 2K2, or a charity of their choice. "When anxiety was great within me your consolation brought joy to my soul." I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. "I am troubled; O Lord, come to my aid." "Take heart, daughter," He said, "your faith has healed you." There are no wheelchairs in Heaven. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
