JACOB (JACK) DIXON 1916 - 2003 Peacefully, with his wife Rosalie by his side, Jack passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital. Jack leaves to mourn his beloved wife Rosalie of 62 years; two children, Allen (Romelda) and Connie (John) two sons-in-law, Norm Valgardson (Dodi) and Ron Halldorson (Linda) 14 grandchildren, Scot, Jeff (Marilyn), Michelle (Tyler), Shane (Patricia), Quinn and Mandi (David) Heather (Kerry), Stephanie and Vance; Shera (Jim) and Troy; Jeremy, Angela and Jack; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister; one brother; and five sisters-in-law; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Gloria and Sylvia; one grandson Bradley; one sister; five brothers; and his parents. Jack was born in 1916 in Grenfell, SK. He worked for the C.P.R. and then in 1939 joined the R.C.A.F. and started his career as an Aero Engine Mechanic. He married Rosalie in Sept-ember 1940 and they moved to various locations across Canada with the R.C.A.F., finally settling in Gimli in 1956. After his career with the Air Force, Rosalie and Jack successfully ran Dixons General Store in Arnes, MB for 14 years and finally returned back to Gimli to retire in 1977. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Gimli Lutheran Church, 3rd Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Private family interment prior to the service. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Jonas Johnson for their special care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson Memorial Hospital, Palliative/Cancer Care, Administration Office, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
