CLARA EMILY FOSTER (nee BACKMAN) May 8, 1920 - January 12, 2003 On Sunday evening, January 12, 2003, with her loving family by her side, Clara passed away peacefully at the Lundar Personal Care Home. Mom was born on her family farm in Clarkleigh on May 8, 1920. Clara loved her community and was a dedicated community worker all her life. At the age of eight, Clara lost her mother and soon after, with the loving care of her dear Amma (Holmfridur Backman, a chartered member of the Ladies Aid Bjork), Clara became a "little" member of the Bjork by attending meetings with her Amma; and thus began Moms interest in her community involvement forever. She belonged to so many organizations and always gave of herself whole heartedly. Through all of this she certainly learned how to cook and bake. Hospitality was tops. Everyone was always welcomed into their home to have a cup of coffee and a wide array of baking, "Ammas" chocolate cake and doughnuts at the top of the list; and should you come at meal time, a feast appeared from no where...always. Home grown music was a great part of her life by participating with her own musical talents or happily listening to Dad and her boys, her siblings and her friends. These were her cherished times. With their family, Mom and Dad very happily got to spend their 65th wedding anniversary together this past December, and it will be a day marked with such happiness, always. Ammas beautiful words to her children and grandchildren were, "love one another," and "sharing is caring." Never will that be forgotten, sweet, sweet Amma Sleep Peacefully We will Love You Again and Again Clara is survived by her loving husband William (Bill) sons, Lorne (Lue), Ken (Sharon) a daughter-in-law Doris; daughters, Lorraine (Bob) Morsette, Bev (Wayne) Page; her grandchildren, Trish (Armand), Tara (Jim), Lisa (Dan), Lindsay (Emma), Shaunna (Rick), Brad (Alanna), Kim, Sharona (Norman), Kendra (Ian), Claude (Holly), Rhonda (Keith), Loretta, Lee (Carolyn) 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; stepmother Vera; brothers, Harold, Hjartur, Charles, Winston and Earl; her sister Dorothy Hunter; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Kristine (in infancy) son Albert; granddaughter Charmaine Lisi; brother Krisjan Backman; and sister Elinor Byron. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at the Lundar Lutheran Church in Lundar, MB, with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Service will conclude at the church with interment to follow at a later date at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of the care homes in Lundar and Eriksdale for the wonderful care you gave Clara. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lundar Lutheran Church fund or to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements by Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768 - 2072
