DONALD E. CURTIS "Papa" passed away in Florida on January 3, 2003 at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife Cory; daughter Lori Verrier (Louis) son Patrick Curtis (Kathy) and son Bob Vidal (Kathie) grandchildren, Scott, Jaime, Kristy, D.J., Samantha, Ryan and Brandon; twin brother Ron Curtis (Ruth, deceased), brother John Curtis (Iris), brother Bernard (Ellen) and sister Violet (Bill, deceased). Don was predeceased by his mother Violet, father Jack and brother Ernie. Don joined the Air Force at age 18 as a Crash Fire Fighter and soon after became an instructor. After 13 years in the Air Force, Don went on to become a National Training Officer with Transport Canada in Ottawa. Don wrote the manual for Crash Fire Fighting for Canada. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1962 as Regional Superintendent of Emergency Services. Don retired in 1985 at which time he and his wife Cory spent their winters in Florida. Don was the best husband and father! Don was the most kind and gentle man who carried with him a great sense of humour. Known to have the occasional "warm" beer, he loved to play golf with his buddies both at Falcon Lake and in Florida. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Falcon Lake at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Don may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
