She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Barbara Popplestone (Bill) and Joan Eyres; grandchildren, John (Jackie) Popplestone, Debbie (Doug) Anderson, Robert Popplestone and Michelle (Mike) Andersen; as well as seven great-grandchildren and George Popplestone (Bridgette). She will be missed by her sisters, Irene and Ida; brothers, Frank and Mike (in England) and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris will be missed by all her friends that came to know her throughout her life. Doris was predeceased by her husband John Thomas, sister Lou, brothers, Jack and Dennis. Doris was born in Leeds, England on June 23, 1921 to Thomas and Emma White. She grew up in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England until she came to Canada as a War Bride. She settled down in a house that her husband had built for her after the 1950s flood living there until the time of her death. She also loved spending time at her cottage in Winnipeg Beach during the summer. The family would like to thank Dr. Permack and the 5th floor staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion. We would like to thank the Ambulance and Paramedic staff for their quick response in attending to our mother. At Doris request cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Doris and her love of animals, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
