MALVINA LOUISE FOSTER It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Malvina on January 5, 2003 after a short illness at the age of 89 years, of Manitou. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Sharon; and husband John Olafson of Morden; grandchildren, Christopher of Mississauga, Gregg and Shannon of Morden; her daughter Marlene and husband Colin Cowell; grand-children, Terra Orlikow and husband David and Kellie Johnston all of Winnipeg; and her very special little great-granddaughter Maggie whom she was very proud. Mom was predeceased by two infant children; her beloved husband Elmer in 1969; her parents, Clementina and Peter J. Pardon; her sister Mary Brick; and brothers, August and Camille Pardon; and son-in-law Lyle Johnston. She is also survived by one sister Margaret Van Cauwenberghe of Somerset and George Pardon of Morden; nieces and nephews; and her special friend Alma Geirnaert. Mom was a longtime resident of Manitou, living in the family home for 55 years. She was an avid gardener all her life - her passion was her vegetable garden and growing new varieties of tomatoes. She still grew seeds her mother brought with her from Belgium. We all enjoyed her wonderful homemade bread and strawberry jam. She enjoyed cards and friends at the Friendship Centre for many years. She was very independent, hard-working and a very caring mother. The family would like to thank her nephew Ray Foster for his help to Mom over the years. Thank you to the nursing staff at Victoria Hospital for their care and kindness. According to he wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at Manitou United Church, Wednesday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate her life. Interment to follow at Manitou Cemetery. Grahams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
