ELEANOR MARGUERITE STRONG (ELLWOOD) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Eleanor, on January 5, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Mom was born November 5, 1925 in Portage la Prairie to Wilfred and Mary Ellwood. She started her working years with the T. Eaton Co. in Portage as a grocery bagger at the age of 16. Later she became an invoice clerk in the office and continued to work for Eatons when she moved to Winnipeg, first in the foodeteria office downtown and then the warehouse building, until she was forced to take an early retirement due to health reasons. Mom was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary ANAF Branch No. 13 for several years and served as President in 1970. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed curling in her younger years. Eleanor was very proud of her grandchildren and their many accomplishments. She babysat Matthew for the first two years of his life while Mom and Dad worked, and they developed a very special bond for that reason. We have always attributed Matts "smarts" to Grandmas teaching during his early years. Mom was predeceased by her parents, only sibling Audrey and estranged husband Merv. She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Donna (Randy) Heino and granddaughters, Sherri (Geoff) and Michelle (Bill) and great-granddaughter Chalene; Kim (Gary) Becker and grandsons, Matthew and Jeffry; and Tracy (Allen) Ducharme. She is also survived by her ever faithful brother-in-law Fred Bardal and special niece Judy Mori. Heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at the Golden Door; your love and support over the past two and a half years was greatly appreciated by Mom and also the family. A special thanks to Dr. Sheila Domke for her special care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday January 9 at 4:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mother God made many lovely things Sunsets and flowers and trees Birds and starlight and loyal friends And after He made all these He gave another gift more rare More loving and more true A wonderful person most fair A Mother dear as you Love your daughters Rest in peace dear Mother, and Grandmother, your pain and suffering are now over. Arrangements are by: Ronald Moffit Memorial Services 856-3487
