VIOLET GWENDOLYN SMITH (GOULD) Peacefully, on Saturday, January 4, 2003, at the Grace Hospital, Violet passed away at the age of 71. She was born on November 20, 1931, in Fairlight, SK. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Gould; father Archibald Gould; brothers, Bob, Albert and Howard; sisters, Helen and Olive. Violet is survived by her children, Larry Wingert (Margurite) of British Columbia, Connie Brown (Larry) of Stony Mountain, Terry Davies (Lance) of British Columbia, Robert Smith (Liza) of Winnipeg and Jim Smith (Kathy) of Alberta; grandchildren, Carla, Dwight, Katie, Sarah, Matthew and Hannah; sisters, Peggy, Alma, Martha and Doris; brothers, Donald, Clarence and George; and many nieces and nephews. For many years Mom operated a daycare in her home for special needs children. She cared for these children like they were her own. She helped these children overcome many difficult problems until she retired at age 65. In her last few years she went to live at Calvary Place Personal Care Home, where everyone loved her. She loved to play jokes and be very mischievous with the staff. She will be missed and cherished by many, many people. The family would like to thank the staff of Calvary Place for the wonderful job they did making Mom feel at home and very loved. The family would also like to thank the Grace Hospital emergency and the 5th floor staff for the care they gave our Mother. Be at peace Mom and know That we all love you and will Cherish your memory forever. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home Memorial Fund, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg MB, in Violets name. Memorial service will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, January 9, at 12:30 p.m. Interment and reception will follow.
