SHIRLEY A. KALUPAR (nee ZABIAKA) On January 8, 2003, at the age of 55, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and baba, Shirley Kalupar, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Shirley will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 16 years, Stanley Kalupar; her step daughter Jane (Brad Pausch) and grandson Quentin; along with her mother Victoria Zabiaka; her brother Kenneth Zabiaka (Sharon) her sisters, Florence (Serge Scrafield), Kathleen (Frank Hrechka), Donna Vincent and god-daughter and niece, Malissa Lundgren; nephews, Mike Hrechka, Kris Hrechka and Stefan Scrafield. She was predeceased by her father, William Zabiaka. Stans brothers and sisters and their families and her close friend Louann will cherish their memories of Shirley forever. We will all remember Shirley for her strong faith in God and the strength it gave her throughout her life. Her enjoyments in life included travelling with her husband, education, teaching and writing. Shirley also enjoyed gardening, swimming, skiing, bowling, as well as her creative hobbies, sewing and photography. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Divine Liturgy to follow on Monday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Celebrants will be the Redemptorist Fathers of St. Josephs. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Sobiak, Bob Sobiak, Allen Kalupar, Ron Kalupar, Mike Hrechka and Kris Hrechka. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Shirleys memory to the Palliative Care, 8th Floor, St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
