RUSSELL EDWARD MORLEY May 2, 1943 - January 7, 2003 Peacefully on a beautiful winter day, our husband, father, brother and best friend passed away surrounded by loved ones. Russ was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Florence and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Della; son Keith and daughter Shannon; sisters, Karen and her husband Ralph Chelswick from Squamish, BC and Janis and her husband Ed Preston from Dubai, U.A.E.; mother-in-law Eileen Johnson; sisters-in-law, Joy and her husband Errol Kring of Barto, PA, Edie Shields of Winnipeg and brother-in-law Brent and his wife Donna Johnson of Dryden, ON. Russs death will also leave a void in the lives of his nieces and nephews, Denise and Andrew Bendor-Samuel, Kirk Chelswick, Trevor and Brenda Chelswick, Tommy Johnson and Tracy Johnson and grand-nephews, Cooper and Crawford Bendor-Samuel and grand-niece Kailey Chelswick. He fought his battle with strength, courage and dignity and never gave anyone a reason to give up. He remained at home until his final hours which were spent at Riverview Health Centre. Russ worked as a Transit Operator for the City of Winnipeg for 23 years, where he met many lifelong friends. Russ entertained us at family gatherings with the "bus drivers stories" that he accumulated over the years. Russ loved to putter in his vegetable garden and often teased the neighbours about who would produce the first red tomato. He looked forward to his camping and fishing trips with his family or his buddies, Wally and Gerry and his dog Darby. He was always the first to greet new neighbours. Throughout the day he made his rounds from yard to yard, helping where he could. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. L. Cummings, Dr. C. Mikalcioiu, Dr. G. Schroeder and all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre, especially Delisa and Kate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A celebration of Russells life will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD. 680 Archibald Street 253-5086
