GEORGE W. LOEPPKY 1927 - 2003 Peacefully and among family, George W. Loeppky of Winnipeg died in Vancouver, BC on Wednesday, January 8, 2003. George was the husband, father, grand-father and friend for whom anyone could ever hope, and much loved by all of his family and dear friends. George was a generous man, always willing to quietly help anyone in need, impacting many peoples lives. George was truly a man of the Prairies, a favourite pastime being to drive through the countryside when the fields were ripe. With his deep bass voice, George loved to sing, including barbershop and especially hymns. George was a member of Knox United Church. He lived by two guiding principles: "Love your family" and "The Golden Rule". He was a humble man and always gave credit to his wife Muriel for all that was good in his life. George is survived by his wife of 49 years, Muriel Loeppky of Winnipeg, Mary Lee (daughter) and Rick Taylor of Vancouver, David (son) and Sharon Loeppky of Bellingham, WA, Lindsay (son) Loeppky of Winnipeg, Verna (daughter) and Tim Mumford of Lynden, WA, Trish (daughter) and Jim Newbold of Bellingham, WA, and predeceased by his daughter Linda Ruth Loeppky. He is survived by his 11 grandchildren, Ian, Kate, Steven, Mitchell, George, Alison, Lainie, Jackson, Sam, Gavin and Kellie. George is also survived by his brothers, Abe Loeppky of Winnipeg, Norm Loeppky of Saskatoon; his sister Katherine Oliver of London, England; and predeceased by his sisters, Edna and Anne. He also leaves to cherish his memory many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws, including Joan and Bob Publow with whom he and Muriel spent every New Years Eve for the last 49 years playing Bridge. A service will be held on Wednesday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton St, 942-4579. As George was always a giving man, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DuVal Foundation at Knox United Church or a charity of your choice.
