Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD PETTERSON Sadly, on Wednesday, January 8, 2003, Mr. Leonard Petterson, aged 68 years, passed away at the Beausejour Hospital, with his family by his side. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Shirley; his son Darin; his brothers, Kenneth (Mary) and Earl (Linda) his sisters, Violet (Don) Sellers, Delores (Gunther), Walmuth and Joan Larsen; his sister-in-law Diane (Fred) Doren; his uncle Eric and many nieces and nephews. Leonard was born in Lac du Bonnet and grew up in the Riverland area. He was employed by Winnipeg Electric, and was one of the last employees to leave the Old Pinawa Generating Station. He then went on to work at Winnipeg Hydro Point du Bois Generating Station, Mid-Canada Radar Line, City of Winnipeg Steam Plant and until his retirement in July 1998, with Tantalum Mining for 28 years. Leonard or P.D. (as some people called him) was an avid outdoors man. He found great enjoyment out of his hunting, fishing, his trap line, gardening and camping with the Lac du Bonnet Toboggan Club members many summers ago. He was known to be a connoisseur in smoking fish and took great pride in growing the first and biggest tomatoes of the season. He was also a very dedicated volunteer with the L.D.B. Wildlife Association, since its early conception. When he wasnt spending time with his family or pastimes, you could find him at his favourite pub, The Lakeview, enjoying a beverage and trying his luck on the machines. Lens easy-going personality, quiet-nature and generosity made him a special person. The many people he touched will miss him dearly. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre, Lac du Bonnet, MB. with Rev. Ingthor Isfeld officiating. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Shojania, Dr. Corder and the nursing staff at the Beausejour Hospital for their attentive care during Leonards brief stay.
