MILDRED RICKER After a short illness Mildred Ricker died on January 7, 2003 at the Portage District General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, at the age of 67 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Pearl Ricker and her sister Loretta Ricker. Left to treasure her memory is her sister June Nabozniak of East Selkirk; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews; and friends of MDC. Mildred was a well known resident of Manitoba Developmental Centre residing there from the age of 16. She was known to be a very loving, affectionate and a pleasant person. Mildred was easily amused and was nearly always content. She found much pleasure in looking at family photos and her cards and in writing her "letters". She will be dearly missed by those who had the opportunity of knowing her. Memorial service will be held Monday, January 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the Aspen Centre of the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Portage la Prairie, MB with Chaplain Ron Siemens officiating. Interment is to follow at Brookside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Mildreds memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or to the Manitoba Development Centre, Residents Benefit Fund, Box 1190, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3C6. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Mildred by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are entrusted with the arrangements. 204-857-4021.
