WILFRED GEORGE BRIDGMAN Peacefully on December 31, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital, surrounded by his family, our dearly loved father and grandfather went to be with Jesus. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gail Abbott (Charlie) and Barbara Ferguson (Brock) his son George; grandchildren, Blake (Heidi), Sean and Tara Abbott, Brock Jr., Chelsea and Parker Ferguson. As well, his sister Blanche Smith, brother Graham, brother-in-law Harvey Baker, sister-in-law Marge Bridgman, nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lea; and brothers, Greville and DArcy. Wilf was born to George and Ida Bridgman at Pelly, SK on May 3, 1915. He grew up with horses, loved to ride, and enjoyed all aspects of horsemanship. His passion was quarter horses. Dad raised and trained Labrador Retrievers, and was an enthusiastic duck and pheasant hunter. He always enjoyed working in his yard and garden. Dad and Mom met at the "House of Hall," 301 Balmoral Ave., Winnipeg, and were married September 1945. Dad was a faithful, loving husband, a great father, a proud grandfather, and his family always came first. We have precious memories of Sunday afternoon car rides, always ending with a stop at Dairy Queen, and the exciting trips to Falcon Lake, the beach and picnic times. As a young man he worked as a welder for MacDonald Douglas Aircraft. Later travelling in Saskatchewan and Manitoba for J.H. Ashdown Hardware and completing his career as Western Regional Manager for Enterprise Foundry Co. Ltd. He was a proud member of the North West Commercial Travellers Association from 1945 to December 2002. Retirement years presented new opportunities, part time export inspector, volunteering to do income tax returns for seniors, which in turn led to being an Executor for several estates. He was a dedicated President of the Thistle Seniors Social and Curling Club for 12 years. Precious times were spent with his companions golfing and curling. He loved the challenge of cards, cribbage and checkers. He was a true friend, a good neighbour, always eager to help, enjoyed people and was actively involved with organizing corn roasts and block parties. He leaves a legacy of love, honour, and respect for his family, who will never forget and always celebrate his life in praising God for him. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their loving care, kindness and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dads life took place on Sunday, January 5, at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Neil Bardal Inc. In his memory friends may wish to donate to the Gideons, P.O. Box 3619 Station Main, Guelph, ON N1H 9Z9 or Trinity Television, Box 2010, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R3.
