SYLVIA GOODWIN 1944-2003 Sylvia Goodwin of Leaf Rapids, MB passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, January 9, 2003. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Peter, her daughter Jacqueline (Allen) Clark and her granddaughters, Jessica and Rachel of Seattle, WA; daughter Tamsyn McLean presently of South Korea; sister Margaret Grimshaw of Looe, Cornwall and sister-in-law Pam (Ken) Cocks of Tywardreath, Cornwall, England. Peter and Sylvia immigrated to Canada in 1966, settling in Lynn Lake, and subsequently moving to Leaf Rapids, MB in 1980. Sylvia taught school both in Lynn Lake and Leaf Rapids. She dedicated herself to guiding and supporting many students in personal and career paths and giving generously of her time, energy and enthusiasm to her students and colleagues. As president of the Manitoba Association of Student Activity Advisors she was responsible for bringing the 2001 Manitoba Provincial Student Leadership Conference to Leaf Rapids. The family would like to thank the staff of GD4, M.I.C.U. and GA4 at the Health Sciences Centre for the compassionate care shown to Sylvia and the family during her illness. Also, thank you to our many friends for your care, support and visits at the hospital. A memorial service for Sylvia will be held on Tuesday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, followed by a reception in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
