CHARLES ALVIN MATHESON Charles Alvin Matheson passed away peacefully on December 14, 2002 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. He was born December 14, 1929 in Baasano, AB. Charlie spent his younger years in Calgary and area. In 1959 he moved to Toronto and worked with the CBC as a chauffeur. The highlight of that work was that he met and chauffeured his hero John Wayne. In the early 1960s he moved his family from Kingston, ON to Winnipeg. He was involved in and worked at the local community centre. His love of sports drew him to coach hockey and baseball. He received special recognition from the Red Cross for blood donations. In his later years he enjoyed work as a security guard. He was predeceased by his parents and one son Alvin. He will be remembered by his brothers and sisters in Alberta; his children, Lynda, Dolores, Lyta, Melanie and Vern from his first marriage as well as Dwayne, Pamela, Kym-Su, their spouses and families. In keeping with his wishes no memorial service was held.
