ISABEL MARY McGREGOR Peacefully, with her family by her side, Isabel McGregor passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at the age of 80 years. She will be dearly missed by her husband Nelson, of 60 years of marriage; daughter Pat; sons, John (Bonnie), George (Glennis) and Norman (Leslie) grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin), Krista (David), Melissa, Megan, Mackenzie and Amory; brother Jack (Alberta) Branton; brother-in-law Glen (Wynn) McGregor; and many close friends. Isabel was born on October 2, 1922. She grew up in East Kildonan where she met and married Nelson in 1942. They continued to live there until the family moved to the farm in Birdshill in 1957. For 57 years Sherwood Lake held a special place in Moms heart. She prided herself in being the first one in the water on the May long weekend, ice or no ice. Isabel also enjoyed fishing, canoeing and spending time with her family and friends. Many special memories were made over the 23 winters spent in Mesa, AZ, hiking, golfing and enjoying happy hour with the "gang". In later years Isabel organized an exercise group in the apartment block they resided in. This led to the making of a seniors exercise video. She was proud to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Manitoba Council on Aging for her contribution to the senior community. Mom will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered for her many talents. We appreciated her culinary expertise, anything from brownies to spaghetti. Mom took on the challenge of organizing any event whether it be a picnic or party. Her wisdom and leadership helped shape our lives and she will always hold a special place in each of our hearts. Nan will forever be remembered as a fun-loving, caring person who was ready for a visit and a good laugh at any time. She shared her love of cards with us and was always up for a challenging game. Nan took a special interest in each of our lives and was forever encouraging us along the way. Our family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at the Concordia Hospital for their kindness and compassion. In keeping with Isabels wishes, there will be no service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Isabels memory to a charity of ones choice.
