KENNETH NELSON McRAE Ken passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on Thursday, January 9, 2003. He leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Jean; sons, Bruce and Don (Shona) daughter Meredith; grandchildren, Emily and Ewan; and brother Allan (Jocelyn) McRae. He was predeceased by his brother Don "Red" McRae. Born in Winnipeg in 1927, he attended Grovenor, Robert H. and Kelvin schools. He received his B.S.C. in 1948 and M.D. in 1955 and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He chose Pediatrics as his specialty and did post graduate training at the Yale Child Study Centre from 1957 to 1960. Returning to Winnipeg Childrens Hospital, he was Director of O.P.D. and Ambulatory care from 1960 to 1969 then Director of the Child Development Clinic until his retirement in 1997. During the appointment, his concern for symptoms of child abuse resulted in the establishment of the Child Protection Clinic. He loved his family, his home, his dogs and tennis and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Our heartfelt thanks to family and friends for their love and support and to the Victoria Hospital staff and Riverview Palliative Teams for their care and compassion. We could not have made this journey without you! Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with Fr. Jim McLenaghen officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
