HELEN CATHERINE PANCHUK (NEDUZAK)
Born: Jun 10, 1921
Date of Passing: Jan 11, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN CATHERINE PANCHUK (nee NEDUZAK) Peacefully on Saturday morning, January 11, 2003, Helen left her earthly family and went to join her husband Steve, beloved mother Pauline (Bapchi), father Alfred (Gigi), infant son Ronnie and sister Fran. She will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by her son Grant, daughter-in-law Jo-Ann, and granddaughter Christine, sisters, Stella (Roy) Fisher and Vi Faraci; brothers-in-law, Maurice Peleshok, Orville Steenerson and Wally Kozak; sisters-in-law, Nell Simmons and Lynne (Dick) Stewart; special nieces, Mona (Raymond), Cheryl (John), Sandy (Gerry), Robin (Jeff), Connie, Barb (Bob) and Bonnie; nephews, Bob (Glenna) Faraci and Jim Jannetta; and many other nieces and nephews. Helen was the oldest of four daughters born to Pauline and Alfred Neduzak on June 10, 1921, in Garson, MB. Her childhood was spent on the farm and she later moved to Winnipeg where she did odd jobs until she began her work in the garment industry. Helen met her future husband through mutual friends while waiting tables. Steve and Helen married on October 31, 1942. She resided on Ingersoll Street for most of her married life and maintained many friendships from this area of west Winnipeg. Helen delighted in keeping a spotless house and giving wonderful parties - entertaining weekly. She also took in house guests and they felt that "they would sooner come to her house for leftovers, then to go to a restaurant for a meal". When her son Grant was born in 1957, she became a "stay at home mom" and her extended family took on a new meaning. Her special nieces and nephews were all her children. She loved the family get togethers at holiday time and enjoyed the excitement. In the fall of 1975, Helens husband Steve passed on and a little piece of Helen died with him. She lived very quietly after that but still enjoyed eating out, family get togethers, visiting friends and weekly hair-dos and manicures. These special times continued when she went to live with Grant and Jo-Ann in 1988. Helen loved the time she spent with her sons family and the many memories that she made during the 14 years she lived there. In October 2002, Helen went to reside at Concordia Place Personal Care Centre. There she met a good friend, Mary, and they spent many happy hours together laughing and sharing stories. Thanks to the staff on unit 4 D for helping her adjust to her new home in such a caring manner. Special thanks to the Concordia Hospital Emergency Room staff. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Tuesday, January 14. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15 also at Cropo Chapel with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Rev.s Jack and Dawn Ballantine-Dickson and Very Rev.
